Candy Store Collective

I really like the dress selection at the Candy Store Collective (via Oh Joy!)
I'm so eager to buy some spring/summer clothes but nice ones are so hard to find in small towns.
I wish a local store stocked these!

Things That Make Me Smile

(All photos from MiekeWillems' on Flickr)

I would love to visit the little shop mieke willems in Antwerp, Belguim. The flickr photos from Veronik and Mieke are so adorable. It's such a fun and colorful shop full of handmade items and their opening party featured cute cookies they decorated themselves.

Printed Totes

Monday, 13 April 2009

Classes just wrapped up last week, finishing with my very first academic presentation of my undergrad thesis. I had been stressing about that presentation for a year, then all of the sudden it was over! Now I'm stuck in that period before exams where I feel like I'm done, but actually I have to study quite a bit.

I've found so many inspiring ideas that I want to try out.
The first of which is Lena Corwin's Printing by Hand Classes, unfortunately I'll be no where near Brooklyn, so I think her book will have to suffice.
Her prints are so inspiring. If I can make one printed tote this summer I will feel complete!

Become a Donor

Wednesday, 8 April 2009

Through Jeana Sohn's blog today I found a link to a touching article by Victoria Namkung in the Huffington Post on the Bone Marrow registry.

I've been on the Canadian Bone Marrow registry, called One Match, for four years now.
I've never gotten the phone call saying I'm a match, but if I did I would drop everything to donate. The process to get on the registry did require my to have a small amount of blood taken by needle. Which I admit is scary, and I always have to look the other way.

The Canadian Blood Services also overseas blood donations. Blood donations take around an hour, and finish with juice and a cookie. (If you're into rewards, like me) There are quite a few donor restrictions in Canada, so unfortunately not everyone can donate regularly or at all, however it is good to try. I should mention that in my own experience I do get nervous before donations so I always tell the nurses that I will be looking away. The nurses are always attentive and really kind. I've also found that it doesn't hurt after the needle goes in, and that time passes pretty quickly.

The Anabela Scarf.

I was tagged by Windy Days, hooray!

What is your current obsession?
Alpaca yarn, due to a lucrative deal I've found myself with a lot to work with in exchange for knitted goods! Lemons, Wiksten Patterns, Spring, and Bulk food.

What are you wearing now?
Plaid shirt, and denim. I went to an agricultural fair today.
I blended in quite well.

Do you nap a lot?
Not as much as I'd like too. They're so refreshing.

If you were a tree, what tree would you be?
I would be a tall strong tree with a swing and good footholds for climbing.
I would also like to produce apples, either Gala or Red Delicious.

What's for dinner?
Bedtime snack will be an apple and some cheddar cheese. Yum!

What was the last thing you bought?
Well, yesterday I went a little nuts and bought A Year of Mornings: 3191 Miles Apart, Sky High: Irresistible Triple Layer Cakes, Slumdog Millionaire, cashews, chocolate covered cashews, cake flour, organic cane sugar, and peachy rings. Oh, and today I bought mini donuts. Thus, I will be buying very little for the next while. :)

What are you listening to right now?
Oddly enough, also Jose Gonzalez. "Down the Line" to be exact.

What is your favorite weather?
Sunny, 25 degrees Celsius. I crave warmth.

What is on your bedside table?
Two copies of RUSSH 24+25, my notebook, Kleenix, alarm clock, phone, and Aveeno lotion.

What is your most challenging goal right now?
Preparing a solid presentation of my thesis for Thursday afternoon.

Say something to the person who tagged you.
Hi Angie, hope all is well across the world! I can't wait to hear more about your travels.

If you could have a house anywhere in the world, where do you want it to be?
Easy, in Toronto, since I will be moving there soon. It would be so wonderful not to rent!

What can’t you live without?
My family and friends.

What was the last book you read?
"Captain Corelli's Mandolin" by Louis de Bernieres.

If you could go anywhere in the world for the next hour, where would you go?
My first answers were Paris or London, but maybe just Luke's apartment.

Last movie you watched?
Slumdog Millionaire, again, right after I bought it.
Thinking about popping in Cabaret.
