Well it took weeks to go from inspiration into a dress, but I am so happy with the result. This is the first of my fall wardrobe that I plan to sew this summer. The inside is done entirely with french seams, except for the collar and the plaids match... for the most part. ok ok it was tricky!
However, I will have to find a better place to take my picture...

I borrowed this book on tape from the library and listened to it while I was on the road last summer. I love this quote in particular, I love the mad ones too, the ones that love to live. The ones who find excitement in life and everyday things.
Like dresses, songs, books, and the jazzy words of Kerouac.

Plaid Love

Whenever I start a new project I become obessessed with finding inspiration. Since the fabric for my new dress is a nice lumberjack plaid, I've been battling how feminine the cut can be. Here is some outfits that I love the best:

Marc by Marc Jacobs Fall/Winter 2008, and Lover's Black Rose Army Collection. Also these on flickr: Impulse Seattle, Wiksten Made, Minirobot. All amazing, but I've settled on a Built by Wendy, just like Wiksten Made.

First Blog and Boyfriend Visit

I've wanted to start this blog for quite awhile now seeing as other blogs are a constant source of inspiration to me. I chose the name copycat because I'm constantly searching for inspiration, most often fashion related and I wanted to share what I find inspiring. Being a "copycat" is not about replicating, but to me, it is about being inspired by others to create on my own.

My boyfriend just recently moved to a new city which is not too far away so last Saturday I drove in to visit. It was such a wonderful day, which started off with gelato, yum! It was an amazing day, and to top off the visit I made some great shopping finds!

I have been searching everywhere for circular sprinkles, and they had been impossible to find, until I visited Bulk Barn.. I think I'm in love.

A new summer dress, I love purple, I think it's one of my favorites,
and this dress is just so easy to wear.

Some great new plaid fabric, so now I have to choose which dress pattern it will become!
I was inspired to make a plaid dress by this talented girl!
